Iris Nazarene

It takes its name from the rare species Iris Bismarckiana, also known as Nazarene Iris because it grows primarily in the mountains east of Nazareth. The flower's extraordinary beauty, with its brown or purple spots and delicate bluish-purple veins, captivated Karl Bradl as soon as he saw it on a postcard. It became the inspiration for Bradl's second perfume. AEDES DE VENUSTAS when it was launched in 2013.
The flower itself doesn't release a scent like most irises. It's the root, or rhizome, that's revered in perfumery. To transform it into an aromatic material, the flower must grow for three years before being picked. It's then left to wither for another three years before developing its characteristic note, a blend of dust, wood, and violet. It's then ground and distilled. Only after all this time and an intense manufacturing process is the majestic iris resurrected, a journey that reflects the history of the land where Iris Nazarena grows.
The soft suede petals of the mystical iris muse are drawn in subtle shades of brown, purple, and white. Ambrette diffuses the tender light of dawn on the top notes, rose adds a touch of floral sensuality, and the fresh, vivid green of star anise evokes the flower's stylized stems and leaves. Resinous juniper berries, patchouli, and vetiver allude to its roots, infused with dark earth and rock, while the sacred smoke rising from the altars intertwines its mineral, leather-scented tendrils throughout its development with clove. oud and incense.
