Détails du produit

Hypnotic, spiritual and powerful, an ecstatic, wild perfume with an iconoclastic expression at its heart.

Soft clouds of burning copal swirling over Tulum inspire a beach scent unlike any other. Mayan incense rising from centuries-old temples. Lashes of sea spray and winds from the jungle where the jaguar roosts.
AEDES DE VENUSTAS COPAL AZUR exudes the lush, spiritual vibrations of sacred Tulum.
Copal from Mayan incense is the inspiration behind COPAL AZUR, brought to life by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour in 2014, also the creator of the first SIGNATURE perfume by AEDES DE VENUSTASThe olfactory thread of fragrances AEDES DE VENUSTAS It is incense, which has been burned for millennia in honor of the Gods; the term "perfume" derives from the Latin "per fumum," through smoke.
Who better than Duchaufour to carry the incense from the church to the coastal jungle?
Remarkably similar to frankincense, copal, whose name means "incense" in Nahuatl, can be extracted from a variety of trees native to Central and South America. Much like frankincense in ancient Egypt and Greece, it was burned by the Mayans and Aztecs to "feed" the gods. Today, it is still used in Mexico for spiritual purposes. Because copal resin cannot be used as a perfume ingredient, three different extractions of frankincense conjure it up as if by magic, from top to base notes, making up a remarkable 30% of the formula.
The co-founder of AEDES DE VENUSTAS Karl Bradl was drawn to its scent while cycling along the coast of the Yucatán Peninsula through the copal-laced air near the Sian Ka'an nature reserve, which means “Gate of Heaven.”

As the Mayan citadel looms over the lush beach paradise of Tulum, the steep, mineral cliff of frankincense dominates the olfactory landscape of COPAL AZUR. Ozone and salty notes recall the Caribbean Sea and the local cenotes, the underground freshwater pools that dot the Yucatán Peninsula. A flash of green hints at the lush Mexican jungles, cardamom peeks through the damp, woody undergrowth of patchouli and myrrh, and a touch of almond-scented tonka bean and amber honor the Jaguar God of Earthly Fire, and the roundness of copal and its fiery embers.

Notes: Copal, ozonic notes, salt, incense, resin, cardamom, patchouli, myrrh, tonka bean, amber.
